So Im a moron and still having trouble getting the outline under class notes so I decided to go ahead and post it on here, but hopefully well have the classnotes area resolved soon.
Stress
- How has stress been defined? What is stress?
- How is the stress response adaptive?
- Explain the phases of stress. (Hint: think Selye)
- Explain the different categories of stress. What are the different categories of stressors? Give examples from each category.
- What systems are involved in an acute stress response? How are they anatomically and physiologically organized? What are the mechanisms by which the stress response occurs?
- What hormones/ receptors are involved in the stress response? What types of feedback mechanism are involved in the stress response?
- What systems/ processes are affected by the stress response? Physiologically speaking, how are they affected? (Example: heart rate increases→ what is the physiologically mechanism for this)
- What happens to homeostatic controls during the stress response?
- How is homeostasis restored following a stress response? (Give examples.)
- Describe disorders of a maladaptive stress response. What is current working theory for the physiologically explanation of these disorders?
- What other factors, besides physiology, would affect an individual’s stress response?
